More Than T
A series of authentic portraits of seven trans people and their daily lives. We meet one defence lawyer Mia Yamamoto, a priest Louis Mitchell, trans activist Joanne Cifredo, MAC make- up-artist Gizelle Messina, Octavia Lewis who work as a mentor for Ti’ara Halsey, and Charles Whitewolf from the Theatre of the Oppressed, New York.
They all talk forthright about their lives, from childhood and family life, to self-realization and strengths by being themselves and finding their call in life. This is not a film made for cis people, but one that celebrates ordinary transpersons and their lives, on their premises.
Director Silas Howard (This is Us, Transparent) and producer Jen Richards (Her Story) were free to make the film they wanted to. The film’s subjects are comfortable in front of the camera, much due to the fact that Howard
and Richards both define themselves as trans and that they filmed the interviews without an agenda. All of this combined has made the film into something truly special.
