Feature narrative

Scarecrow in a Garden of Cucumbers

USA – 1972

Synopsis

Andy Warhol Factory superstar and Lou Reed muse Holly Woodlawn, brings her unforgettable charisma and comedic genius to the role of Eve, a wide-eyed, aspiring actress who meets a wild cast of characters while navigating the streets of New York.

This madcap musical satire about a small-town girl trying to make it in the Big Apple was nearly a lost film, and one of the first films to be built around a trans actor. Woodlawn had already worked on cult films such as Trash and Women in Revolt, and through her time at the Warhol Factory she would go on to become one of the most important trans icons of our time. This is an EVENT - a film to be celebrated!
