We Are Still Here
Short film program — 78 min.
This selection of short films shows that Global Majority trans, non-binary and third gender people continue to live fulfilling lives amongst their own communities and families.
They are a warning to the Western world that its way of violently enforcing binary gender systems will have catastrophic consequences for all genders. So these films remind us that there are other ways than the Western gaze to look at gender.
The films also show a way into the future by experiencing those trans, non-binary and third gender people who are living in the present and honouring their own cultures without the need for white saviours. They show that in spite of past European colonisation, these Global Majority communities have remembered to still hold trans, non-binary and third gender people as being worthy of joy and dignity.
